Our Mission

Eight by Eight was founded with the goal of making a positive impact on lives through chess. We strive to help people improve their chess game in a fulfilling way. We know what it takes to get better at chess, and we develop a curriculum that is best suited to our learners.

Our Story

Before creating Eight by Eight our founder, Nitai Leve, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Michigan and worked in biostatistics at Weill Cornell Medical School and in data analysis at a business intelligence startup. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in education at Hunter college. His chess playing accolades include an All-American team placement, a National Master title, and numerous top 10 finishes in scholastic National championships.

Nitai has maintained his passion for chess excellence over the years and was President of the chess club at the University of Michigan. As a chess coach, Nitai has accompanied school teams to major scholastic tournaments and has groomed individuals and teams to success at the national level. He is very appreciative of the opportunity he has been given to improve the self confidence, problem solving skills, and work ethic of many children.
